PEEKSKILL -- A city man with of history of harassing residents for cash was arrested last week after allegedly taking his act too far.
Milton Ramos, 43, of Peekskill, was arrested on Sept, 23 at 5:20 p.m. and charged with third-degree robbery, a class D felony, on the 900 block of Main Street by Detective Ralph DAliso after entering a parked vehicle occupied by a 77-year-old male outside the Stop and Shop Supermarket in the Beach Shopping Center.
The man was waiting for his wife who was inside the store. When she returned, Ramos was in the back seat of the car and attempted to solicit money from the couple by using a fictitious story about having a sick child, according to police.
When the couple refused, Ramos became aggressive and threatened them, leading to the couple handing over approximately $15 in cash and some loose change.
Police Spokesman Lt. Eric Johansen said Ramos has been the subject of frequent complaints of aggressive panhandling.
"He'll say, 'Remember me, I used to work with your husband or father,' and then he'll tell you a story to tug at your heartstrings," Johansen said.
Johansen said that various people have come forward to complain about Ramos but none have asked to press charges against him. Ramos is being held in the county jail on $50,000 bail.

On Sept. 20 at 3:35 p.m. Kristopher Busch, 34, was arrested and charged with petit larceny, a misdemeanor, on the 1800 block of Main Street by Police Officer Leo Dylewski.
Busch was charged following an investigation conducted into the theft of several hundred dollars worth of over the counter pain medicine from the CVS Pharmacy on Main Street.
The theft occurred on Sept. 18 at approximately 9 p.m. and Busch was identified as the offender after being captured on the stores surveillance system. He was held for arraignment in city court.
At 5 p.m. Gregory Fleming, 36, of Peekskill, was arrested and charged with petit larceny on Lindbergh Avenue by Police Officer Jack Galusha. Fleming was charged after he was accused of stealing $100 from the vehicle of an acquaintance who had given him a ride on Sept. 2. He was released on his own recognizance and is due in city court on Oct. 6.
At 10 p.m. Jennifer Muniz 26, of Peekskill, was arrested and charged with prostitution, a misdemeanor, on Orchard Street and Highland Avenue by Police Officer Mike Agovino. Muniz was charged after soliciting sexual intercourse from an undercover police officer for a fee. She was held for arraignment in city court. Muniz was the first prostitution arrest this year after one such arrest last year and officers are stepping up patrols of the Highland Avenue area due to resident complaints, according to police.
On Sept. 21 at 11:50 p.m. Juan Lesende, 34, of Peekskill, was arrested and charged with third degree grand larceny, a class D felony, and third-degree possession of a forged instrument, a misdemeanor. Lesende was arrested at police headquarters by Detective John Bennett. He is accused of stealing several checks from a female acquaintance over a one month period in June 2011 and then cashing the checks for a total of $4,500. He was held for arraignment in city court.
On Sept. 24 at 9:25 p.m. at William Warren, 52, of Long Branch, NJ, was arrested and charged with criminal impersonation, a class A misdemeanor, on Orchard Street by Police Officer Matt Basso.
Warren was stopped after failing to stop at a stop sign and identified himself using his brothers name in an effort to avoid being arrested on an outstanding warrant.
Basso was able to learn Warrens true identity and further found that he was wanted by the NYPD for seventh-degree criminal possession of a Controlled Substance 7th. Warren was held pending his arraignment in city court.
On Sept. 25 at 11:05 p.m. Antoine Boyd, 21, of Peekskill, was arrested and charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class C felony, on the 300 block of Highland Avenue by Police Officer Jack Galusha.
Boyd was charged after he was found to be in possession of several tablets of Ecstasy. He was held for arraignment in city court.
