Pelham Public Works will get new Doors for $10,000

PELHAM MANOR, N.Y. – The Department of Public Works will be getting new doors after the board of trustees Monday night approved the roughly $10,000 purchase.

Pelham Manor Fire Chief Joseph Ruggiero said  the Department of Public Works needs three new doors. The doors would come from Burchett Door & Lock Ltd., which had the mid-priced bid for the project. However, Ruggiero said they provided superior value for the price of slightly more than $10,000.

Village manager John Pierpont referred to the doors' R-value, a measure of the doors resistance to transferring heat. Pierpont said because the village had recently installed insulation in the building, it would make sense to install doors that would insulate heat in the winter, as well.

The board approved the doors after several minutes of deliberation and consideration.
