Greenwich Library Schedules January Events

GREENWICH, Conn. -- Basic computing is among many technology and computing events offered at Greenwich Library in January.

Here's a rundown of events:

Wednesday, Jan. 14 at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., Career Coach: Microsoft Excel Training: Sponsored by Southwestern CTWorks, the Career Coach is offering two, 2-hour Microsoft Excel training sessions. Level 1 training is at 10 a.m. and level 2 at 1 p.m. 

Friday, Jan. 16 at 2 p.m., Basic Computing: These classes will assess the needs of attendees then review basic computer and Internet use, including search, email, creating documents and file management.

Wednesday, Jan. 21 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Introduction to iPhone/iPad: Beginner’s tips and tricks to simplify your life with your iPhone/iPad. 

Monday, January 26 from 6:30-8 p.m., Introduction to Email Marketing: In this introductory workshop, attendees will gain enough information and confidence to begin sending campaigns and announcements by email. The workshop will introduce strategies for using email campaigns in conjunction with social media for maximum effectiveness. Saturday, Jan. 31 – March 7 at 2 p.m., Learning Java for Teens (Registration begins Thursday, Jan. 15) This is an introductory Java design course held in six one-hour weekly installments for students in grades 7-12 interested in coding. By the end of the course students will be able to create basic graphic designs by applying their knowledge of code to access the Java application programming interface. Classes begin Saturday, Jan. 31 and end on March 7. Presented by the Greenwich Library Student Leadership Council. Class size is limited. Required registration for the 6-week course begins January 15 at 9 a.m. through the Library’s online calendar.

The library’s regular drop-in computer lab is offered three times each week: on Saturdays and Tuesdays at 11 a.m., and Thursdays at 3 p.m., from Tuesday, Jan. 6 through Saturday, Jan. 31. No drop-in lab on Saturday, Jan. 3.
