Fireworks shows will be held at Binney Park and Greenwich Point at the same time. Spectators are encouraged to arrive early.

In case of rain, the displays will be postponed until Sunday at the same time.

The Binney Park display will feature the Sound Beach Community Band.  The band will begin performing at 7:30 pm. on the Showmobile and this year in the area of Binney Park near the flag pole near Sound Beach Avenue.

Spectators at Greenwich Point will be entertained by a disc jockey stationed near the South Concession area starting at 7:00 p.m.

The Point will be closed when the maximum number of cars for the available parking spaces has been achieved.  Greenwich Point will be closed to vehicular traffic at 8:30 p.m., even if the parking capacity has not been reached.

In a statement released by the Greenwich Police Department, authorities reminded residents that “sparklers and fountains” are the only personal fireworks considered legal in the state of Connecticut.

Sparklers can only be legally used by person age 16 or older. If the firework makes a "pop" noise or flies around, it is considered illegal.

“Summer festivities often include watching fireworks during Independence Day celebrations’ but illegal fireworks can cause serious injuries to people, property, and are disruptive to the peace of a neighborhood," Greenwich Police Chief Jim Heavey said in the statement. "Nationwide, 3,400 children were injured by fireworks last year. Of these injuries, over 70 percent occurred in the weeks surrounding the Fourth of July. The safest choice is to leave fireworks to the professionals. Please enjoy the holiday safely with your family, friends, and community.”
