GREENWICH, Conn. - The Greenwich Service Unit of the Salvation Army will hold a food drive at Town Hall on Thursday, and chairwoman Margaret E. Conboy said she hopes donations will match or exceed last year's boom.
"We had two tons of food donated in 2011 - the most we've ever had," she said.
All donated items go to the Neighbor to Neighbor food pantry, a nonprofit organization serving those in need throughout the Greenwich area. Conboy said the food drive has gotten bigger and bigger over the past 10 years.
"It started off as just Town Hall employees, but now more people are trying to get involved," she said.
Donations are being accepted between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. in the Gisborne Room on the first floor of the Greenwich Town Hall. Attendees are urged to bring a variety of items including baby food, canned tuna, canned soup, shampoo, and more.
