Greenwich Concert Highlights Women In Italian Opera

GREENWICH, Conn. - Women in Italian opera is the theme of a performance coming to Greenwich next month.

Singers Abby Powell and Amy Buckley and pianist Larissa Friedenberg will present "Bella Notte" at the Greenwich Historical Society's Vanderbilt Education Center on 39 Strickland Road at 7 p.m. on May 16. 

The trio will perform "memorable songs of women in Italian opera: women in love, women rejected, women plotting, women winning over enemies - all from stories by beloved composers," according to a release from Greenwich Historical Society.

The performance in part of the Historical Society's current exhibition, "From Italy to America," which will be open for viewing before the performance.

Tickets are $15 for members and $20 for nonmembers. Reservations are required and can be made at ww.greenwichhistory.org or call 203-869-6899, ext. 10. Before the concert, the exhibition "From Italy to America" will be open for viewing in the Storehouse Gallery from 6 to 7 p.m.
