Suffolk County Crime Stoppers issued an alert as they attempt to track down a man and woman who allegedly used an ATM on Sunday, Nov. 15, 2020 to cash a check that had been stolen out of a mailbox in Smithtown over the summer.

According to police, the check was stolen from the mailbox in July, and when it was cashed in November, the name of the payee, victim’s signature, and payment amount had been altered.

The investigation into the pair of suspects is ongoing. Anyone with information regarding their identities or whereabouts has been asked to contact Suffolk County Police Fourth Squad detectives by calling 1-800-220-TIPS or submitting an anonymous tip online.
