Robert Miller had a brief appeareance before a judge this afternoon in U.S. District Court in Newark who ordered him held without bail.

A complaint on file with the court accuses him of distributing child sex abuse videos the first week of this past May.

“An undercover agent discovered and downloaded the videos, and the username and IP address of the distributor were traced back to Miller’s residence,” U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman said this afternoon.

A month ago today, special agents from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Homeland Security Investigations searched Miller’s home and seized his computer and “related electronic devices,” which Fishman said contained “multiple videos and/or images of child sexual abuse.”

One of the videos found “depicts a prepubescent male inserting his penis into the anus of another prepubescent male,” the complaint on file in Newark says. “This file was downloaded on May 4, 2014.”

Another “depicts a naked adult male stroking the penis of a naked prepubescent male,” it says. “This video was downloaded on May 2, 2014.”

Fishman credited the ICE-HSI agents, as well as the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and Hackensack police. Assistant U.S. Attorney Barry A. Kamar of Fishman’s General Crimes Unit in Newark is handling the case for the government.
