'Fair Share' Tickets Remain For Greenwich Town Party

GREENWICH, Conn. -- General admission tickets to this year's Greenwich Town Party may be sold out, but a limited amount of "fair share" tickets that help cover the cost of the event still remain, according to organizers.

Used as a fundraiser for the event, the $400-per-person tickets are equal to the concept of sponsorship donations, a press release said.

Tickets include admission, part donation and a Greenwich Town Party gift bag and are available to purchase on the event website.

“The Fair Share and sponsorship tickets for the Greenwich Town Party constitute only 10 percent of the total tickets sold for the event, and there are only a limited number of such tickets remaining,” event organizers said in the press release. “Those who purchase these tickets not only help to support the Greenwich Town Party, but also have one of the most solid means left to secure admission to attend this year.”

Ticket sales are limited to Greenwich residents and business owners or employees, however non-Greenwich residents may attend as guests. A valid state or federal issued photo ID with a Greenwich, CT address, such as a Connecticut Driver’s License or ID Card, is required to purchase or pick up tickets or proof of Greenwich business affiliation.

General admission tickets sold out within five minutes of going on sale back on April 9.

If you still come up empty-handed for the Town Party, you can attend the event's new free "satellite" location. The satellite location will be the parking lot of the Board of Education building from noon to 6 p.m., just up the street from the Town Party's main location. It will feature activities for kids and families, food from local restaurants and local bands.

James Taylor, famous for songs such as "Fire and Rain" and "Carolina in my Mind," follows other A-list acts at the Town Party after Buddy Guy in 2011 and Paul Simon in 2012. Dave Matthews also made a surprise appearance with Simon at last year's event.

Other acts will include Grammy winner Blues Traveler, known for its 1994 hit "Run Around." The group's lead singer, John Popper, grew up in Stamford.

In addition, the main stage will also feature Michael Franti and Spearhead, Trombone Shorty and New Orleans Avenue, Caroline Jones and the Harlem Gospel Choir.
