The afternoon of sea chanteys and songs of the sea is set for 1:30 to 4 p.m. at the Seaside Center, a beachside museum in Greenwich Point Park, Old Greenwich. The event will be led by Sean and Deirdre Murtha, and the songs evoke the everyday lives of sailors, whalers and fisherman from the days of yore.

Chanteys, which were sailors' work songs, are infectiously rhythmic and have simple repeating choruses, perfect for singing along.

The Murthas accompany the song on authentic instruments of the time, including banjo, mandolin, fiddle and bones.

Th event is hosted by Friends of Greenwich Point and Bruce Museum at Greenwich Point Park.
