Performances will run on weekends through Aug. 3 at Waveny Park.

The play is based on the book and colorful characters created by E.B. White. Generations of children and parents have enjoyed "Charlotte’s Web," which has been heralded by the Children’s Literature Association as “the best children’s book of the past 200 years."

“In this new theater for a young audience (TYA) play, five professional actors will play the multiple characters including the animals with newly crafted masks and a wonderful Charlotte puppet that allows us to present this show in a wonderfully imaginative and creative way,” said Melody Meitrott Libonati, artistic director of the Summer Theatre of New Canaan.

"Charlotte's Web" will run in a repertory with the current TYA shows "Little Mermaid Jr." and the world premier and pre-Off Broadway run of "Merrilee Mannerly, The Magnificent Musical."

The children's series of shows are Saturdays at 10 a.m., noon and 2 p.m. and Sundays at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. and play through Aug. 3. The final performance of "Merrilee Mannerly" will be on Saturday, July 19.
