Avon Theatre In Stamford Offers Two Special Screenings

STAMFORD, Conn. -- The Avon Theatre in Stamford has scheduled two special screenings for this month and October.

Avon and the India Cultural Center of Greenwich will present satirical road comedy "Finding Fanny" (2014) Wednesday. Set in Goa, the film is about five dysfunctional friends who set off on a road trip in search of an old postman's childhood love.

The film's running time is 101 minutes.

Following the screening, there will be a Q&A with Tejaswini Ganti, an associate professor of anthropology and core faculty in the Program in Culture & Media at New York University and Meheli Sen, assistant professor in the Department of African, Middle Eastern, and South Asian Languages and Literature and the Cinema Studies Program at Rutgers University.

The screening will begin at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free for Carte Blanche members, $7 for members, $9 for students and seniors, and $12 for nonmembers ($7 when presenting coupon at box office.)

The Avon Theatre will present a documentary screening of "Sonny Liston: The Mysterious Life and Death of a Champion" Wednesday, Oct. 5. The 1995 documentary examines the rise and fall of professional boxer Sonny Liston, who was World Heavyweight Champion from 1962-64.

The film's running time is 60 minutes. The screening will begin at 7:30 p.m. A Q&A with director Jeff Lieberman will follow.
