Richard C. Breeden, who has lived in Greenwich, turns 66 on Sunday. The corporate executive and attorney was born Dec. 6, 1949, in Levittown, N.Y.

Breeden began his career practicing corporate and securities law in New York City and later he held a series of government posts during the administrations of Presidents Ronald Reagan, George H. W. Bush and Bill Clinton, including as assistant to the president for issue analysis under Bush.

He led the turnaround of WorldCom Inc., and has served as the monitor of the accounting firm KPMG in its successful recovery from criminal activities.

From 1989 to 1993, he served as chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and worldwide financial services practice of Coopers & Lybrand. He also served as non-executive chairman of the board of H&R Block, director of Zale Corporation, STERIS Corp. and BBVA, SA, one of the 20 largest banks in the world. He has served on 15 corporate or advisory boards during his career.

In 2006 he founded Breeden Partners and its manager Breeden Capital Management. He is also the founding partner of Breeden Partners Europe, which was launched in December 2008.
