Stamford's Chelsea Piers Names New Executive Director

STAMFORD, Conn.– Chelsea Piers Connecticut in Stamford has named Greta Wagner as its new executive director/executive vice president.

Wagner will replace Mollie Marcoux, who is leaving the sports complex in August to begin her new role as director of athletics at Princeton University.

Wagner, who has worked for Chelsea Piers New York for the past 18 years, currently serves as a senior vice president and general manager of the Sports Center, a 150,000-square-foot health club with more than 5,000 members.

Over the past year, Wagner has also spent a considerable amount of time at Chelsea Piers Connecticut as a core team member helping to lead the development of the new Chelsea Piers Athletic Club.

Since joining the company as assistant general manager of the Sports Center in early 1996, Wagner has been has been a leader and major contributor to the culture and success of Chelsea Piers New York, the company said in a press release. In addition to her current roles as a Senior VP and General Manager of the Sports Center, Wagner previously served as the General Manager of the Golf Club at Chelsea Piers.

Along with her venue responsibilities, Wagner also serves in the company’s Human Resources Department, overseeing all management development for the company, as well as customer service training for Chelsea Piers’ 1,200 employees.

Tewksbury, president of Chelsea Piers Connecticut. “With Greta’s vast experience at Chelsea Piers New York and specifically the Sports Center health club, we are confident she will be a great addition to run Chelsea Piers Connecticut and open the new Athletic Club.”

Wagner will continue to serve as general manger of the Sports Center through June 15, while spending time at Chelsea Piers Connecticut during the transition. She will begin her new full-time position in Stamford on July 7.
