"We are working on reopening all three stores," Laura Jakobsen, senior vice president of marketing and design, wrote in an email Tuesday. "We have not announced a new store opening date yet."
She said Pinkberry will make the announcement in local media when the company is ready to throw open the doors again on the frozen yogurt favorite.
Marcia O'Kane, executive director of the Greenwich Chamber of Commerce, said she was surprised to hear of the temporary closure. The chamber has worked in the past with Jamie Karson, who had opened the three businesses, she said.
"We had been dealing with Jamie Karson, and he was a strong supporter of ours, but we hadn't heard anything from him in a while," O'Kaine said.
Pinkberry opened its first store in 2005 in West Hollywood, Calif., and has expanded nationwide to more than 160 stores, including the local locations.
O'Kane noted there is some stiff competition in the business as Greenwich has a number of similar establishments serving up the frozen treat.
