Guess How Many Toys Greenwich Toy Store Has Sold

GREENWICH, Conn. — To celebrate its anniversary, a Greenwich store is asking customers to guess how many toys it has sold in the 25 years it has been open.

Customers can make a guess each day through Oct. 25 at Smart Kids Toys, 17 E. Elm St. The closest guess wins a $2,500 Smart Kids gift certificate, which will be split between the winner's family and the children's charity of their choice, says Heather Rounds.

More than 600 guesses have been made so far, and the store has been emailing clues. One clue said the store had sold 32,000 batteries since it opened. Another said 100,000 cards have been sold since owner Mary DeSilva opened the store at 151 Greenwich Ave.

Back then, the store was above C'est Ci Bon, and it grew to take over the entire second floor and half of the third floor, Rounds said. The store moved to its current spot on East Elm in 1994.

The store also is holding daily drawings for $25 gift certificates and the 25th customer of each day gets at 25 percent discount on one item, Rounds said.
