GREENWICH, CONN. -- In a complex move that is reverberating throughout the art world, Greenwich resident Peter Brant announced Wednesday that he has agreed to sell specialty magazine Art in America to the company that owns ARTnews, The New York Times reported.
The two publications will be owned by the same company, but will be merged online as artnews.com, the Times reported.
Brant, a newsprint mogul and contemporary art collector who has owned Art in America since 1983, will gain a controlling stake in the conglomeration, the Times said.
According to the magazine’s website, the merger will form the world’s largest art-media company.
