A "robust criteria" that includes satisfaction among patients and "clinical excellence" is how the award is based, said a hospital announcement.
Greenwich Hospital had to meet the following: Accreditation by the American College of Surgeons’ Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program; high patient safety ranking by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services; and high recommendation scores based on federal patient surveys.“
We are committed to providing individuals struggling with obesity a safe and evidence-based surgical alternative to improve their health and quality of life," said Ashutosh Kaul, MD, medical director of Greenwich Hospital’s bariatric surgery program.
"Our goal is to provide the highest standard for patient safety and quality care in bariatric surgery."
Greenwich Hospital recently performed its 200th bariatric procedure since 2014, said the announcement.
The hospital offers support, education and nutritional guidance before, during and after bariatric surgery to help patients succeed.
