GREENWICH, Conn. -- Dr. Edward V. Craig, an orthopedic surgeon at the Hospital for Special Surgery Physician Office in Greenwich and at the main hospital in New York City, has been named one of the Top 28 shoulder surgeons in North America by "Orthopedics This Week."
The journal, the mostly widely read publication in the field of orthopedics, developed the list based on a survey of shoulder surgeons and thought leaders in the field.
Craig, who practices in the sports medicine and shoulder service at Special Surgery, is considered a foremost expert in shoulder replacement.
He and colleagues at the hospital designed two of the most widely used shoulder replacement systems in the country. Craig also specializes in rotator cuff injuries and has designed a rotator cuff repair system. His other specialties include arthroscopic surgery and sports medicine.
Internationally known, Craig lectures throughout the United States and abroad.
In 2012, he received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Arthritis Foundation, New York Chapter.
The author of more than 100 publications, Craig has written or edited eight textbooks, including "The Shoulder", "Clinical Orthopedics" and "An Atlas of Orthopaedic Surgery."
In addition to his practice of orthopedic surgery, Craig completed a master’s degree in public health at Columbia University and has served as a health care columnist for MSNBC.com.
