Fairfield County Businesswomen Make History, Earn Grants

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. – Andrea Greene of Fairfield and Teri Gaberman of Weston were among the four people honored at a recent Women’s History Month event in Stamford.

Greene and Gaberman were awarded $1,000 each as “Ladies Making History” who have innovative ideas and are looking to grow their own businesses. Linda McMahon, co-founder and former chief executive officer of WWE in Stamford, delivered the keynote speaker for the event. Safavieh Home Furnishings in Stamford hosted the event.

Katherine Dickers of Madison and was also honored along with Linda Spevacek and Maureen Wolff of Granby.

Greene is president and founder of Connecticut Cookie Co. Gaberman is CEO and founder of Berni & Murcer: Friends for Life, a nonprofit organization that educates, comforts and encourages children with life-threatening illnesses.

Kathy McShane, managing director of New Canaan-based Ladies Who Launch in Connecticut, and Allyson Spellman, founder of Unleash Your Voice, awarded the grants to the women. Funds for the grants were donated by McMahon.
