The Nation Eagerly Awaits Return Of Twinkies, Thanks To Greenwich Investor

Greenwich-based Metropoulos & Co. teamed with Apollo Global Management to buy Hostess for $410 million after it went belly-up earlier this year following a battle with its unionized workers. Bedford, N.Y., private equity heavyweight Leon Black is chairman of Apollo.

The goodies, which have been missing from store shelves since late last year, will be available again by next Monday, July 15. In a nod to the nostalgia over the sponge cake treats since they've been gone, the boxes will bear the tag line "The Sweetest Comeback In The History Of Ever."
