These funds are allocated from the COA's Regional Initiative Grant program (REGI), and are awarded with a range from $1,000 to $4,000. The grants are designed for small projects that support access to the creative process and/or creative experience, especially those projects that experiment with new ways to apply the arts within community.

The deadline for applications is July 29, 2016. Further details and information about the guidelines click here.

In Feburary of 2016, CAFC held an information session in support of the COA's announcement of state funding opportunities for the 2017 Fiscal year. The session was held at the Stepping Stones Museum for Children, in Norwalk, where artists, representatives from cultural organizations, libraries, schools, and municipalities were in attendance.

Similar to the process undertaken for the The FY2016 REGI Grant applications, CAFC will select a panel of individuals, who represent the geography and cultural activity in the region, to review the grant applications. It is expected that grant awards will be announced late in the summer.

David Green, who manages CAFC's participation in the REGi Grant process, stated, "This is a wonderful opportunity for us at the Cultural Alliance of Fairfield County to bring some state money into our local region. These grants, though small, have already proved in the past to have tremendous impact by bringing together artists, cultural nonprofits, schools and other community organizations to collaborate on projects that show the impact that making art together can have on the lives of our citizens, young and old.”

The FY2016 REGI grant awardees located in the region which CAFC serves were BackCountry Jazz (Greenwich, with a project serving the Bridgeport Public Schools); Connecticut Chamber Choir (Trumbull); James S. Curiale School (Bridgeport); Greenwich Alliance for Education (Greenwich); Jay Misencik (Bridgeport); JIB Productions (Westport); The Kennedy Center’s Maggie Daly Arts Co-op (Bridgeport); and Stratford Academy PTSA (Stratford).

The Cultural Alliance of Fairfield County supports the cultural organizations, artists, individuals and creative businesses, of the region, by providing promotion, services, and advocacy.
