Corvino joined the hospital in 1988 as chief operating officer, and in 1991 was named president and CEO. He is currently the longest-tenured hospital CEO in Connecticut.
Under Corvino’s stewardship, Greenwich Hospital has experienced tremendous growth, including the 1993 opening of the Cohen Pavilion and creation of the Bendheim Cancer Center. Construction of the Helmsley Medical Building in 1999 and the Olive and Thomas J. Watson Pavilion in 2005 represented a complete reconstruction of the Perryridge Campus.
A pivotal milestone during Corvino’s tenure was the 1998 affiliation with Yale New Haven Health System. He has served as executive vice president for the system since that time. In January 2013, he officiated at the opening of Yale-New Haven’s Smilow Cancer Hospital’s Greenwich Hospital Campus.
Recognized for clinical excellence, patient satisfaction, technological innovations, medical advancements and community involvement, Greenwich Hospital has transformed healthcare delivery in Connecticut, New York and beyond under Corvino’s leadership.
A staunch patient advocate, Corvino instituted a culture of service excellence at Greenwich that garnered the hospital five consecutive Press Ganey Summit Awards for patient satisfaction.
Corvino is the recipient of numerous local and national awards, including the Ellis Island Medal of Honor from the National Ethnic Coalition of Organizations, the Grassroots Champion Award from the American Hospital Association and the 2013 Outstanding Business Leader award from the Greenwich Chamber of Commerce.
