The children’s clothing store, which has called 67 Elm St. home for more than five years, will relocate next month to 99 Main St., the former home of Gramophone Video. Store owners Anna Carberry and Elizabeth Correa signed a lease at the new location Friday morning, Carberry said.

The store’s lease at Elm Street expired at the end of 2012.

Carberry said she and Correa never thought about moving out of  New Canaan, especially after a strong holiday shopping season in December. They also cited the relationships they have built with customers over the years as their customers’ kids have grown up.

“It’s been wonderful here and we didn’t want to leave New Canaan,” Carberry said Friday afternoon. “The old Gramophone fits us best,“ she said, noting that the new, slightly smaller location reminds her of the Candy Nichols location she and Correa managed in Greenwich.

Gramophone Video, run for 38 years by New Canaan native Jack Trifero, closed in February 2011. The space has since sat vacant, though it has been used as a headquarters for the New Canaan Democratic Town Committee.
