Greenwich Businessmen Make Forbes Billionaire List

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Ray Dalio of Greenwich, founder & co-chief investment officer of Westport's Bridgewater Associates, ranks No. 60 on the list of the world's richest billionaires, according to a report published Monday by Forbes.

Dalio is the wealthiest person in Fairfield County. Steve Cohen, Thomas Peterffy, Paul Tudor Jones II, Andreas Halvorsen, Peter Buck, Fred DeLuca, Steven Mandel Jr., C. Dean Metropoulos, Mario Gabelli, Lucy Stitzer, Richard Chilton, William Berkley, William Macauley and Robert Citrone are other members of the list who reside in Fairfield County.

Buck resides in Danbury, and Halvorsen and Chilton live in Darien. Citrone lives in Fairfield. The others all live in Greenwich, except DeLuca, who attended Central High School and the University of Bridgeport.

Dalio has a net worth of $15.4 billion, according to Forbes. 

Cohen, who ranks No. 109, has a net worth of $11.4 billion and is the founder of Stamford-based SAC Capital Advisors.

Peterffy's net worth is $10.9 billion. He is founder and head of Interactive Brokers, and moved up 33 spots from the rankings of 2014 to No. 114.

Tudor Jones, at No. 352, is the founder of Tudor Investments and has a net worth of $4.6 billion. No. 663, Halvorsen, is worth $2.8 billion due to hedge fund investments. 

Buck and DeLuca, tied at No. 737, each have a net worth of $2.5 billion.

Mandel, at No. 810, is the founder of Lone Pine Capital and has a net worth of $2.3 billion. Metropoulos, No. 847, is the owner of Metropoulos & Co. and has a net worth of $2.2 billion.

Gabelli, founder of Gameco investors, has a net worth of $1.7 billion. Stitzer, at No. 1,190, is worth $1.6 billion from her Cargill inheritance. 

Macaulay is the founder of First Reserve energy, a focused private equity giant, and has a net worth of $1.3 billion and is ranked No. 1,415. Chilton, founder of Chilton Investment Co., has a net worth of $1.2 billion and is ranked No. 1,433.  

Berkley, with $1.1 billion in net worth from his insurance company, W.R. Berkley Corp., is ranked No. 1,638. Citrone, who ranked No. 1,741, has a net worth of $1 billion from hedge funds.

Others from Connecticut on the list are Karen Pritzker from Branford at No. 381 (Hyatt inheritance worth $4.3 billion) and Alexandra Daitch of Lyme at No. 1190 with a net worth of $1.6 billion - the same as her sister, Lucy Stitzer.

The Forbes billionaires  includes 290 newcomers, 71 of them from China. A record 46 of billionaires are under the age of 40. Former NBA player Michael Jordan made the list at No. 1,741, the first time he has made the cut.
